Original work from my solo exhibition, Super Wild Beach Party, held at Onwards Gallery in November 2022.

Pelicans are one of my favourite sea birds, and they appear in three of my forty one works made for this exhibition. They are impressive in size and embody a sort of peaceful confidence. I also like the colour combination of their pale peachy-pink bill and soft grey-blue feet, and enjoy watching them stand around expectantly while people fish off the rocks at the Cowrie Hole and Merewether beach.

The crushed shell in this work comes from found shell necklaces that had been donated to charity shops in Newcastle and Maitland.
