Alternate Ornament
2020
Alternate Ornament was an online art exhibition curated by Holly Leonardson, which opened December 1st 2020 and closed mid January the following year.
Inspired by the ritual of creating craft-based ornaments for end of year celebrations, Alternate Ornament presented an exclusive, limited run of unique ornaments hand made by artists, designers, jewellers and creative all-rounders based in Australia. Not just limited to festive-season decorating, these special objects were intended to be enjoyed all year long.
Artists were encouraged to use materials they already had on hand in their studio, or to re-purpose leftover scraps from previous projects. Painted cardboard, textile remnants, left over clay, salvaged beads and yarn have all been used to create special one-off pieces.
The following artists were included in the Summer 2020-21 show:
