Solo exhibition February - March 2015
Powerhouse Gallery, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia

This solo exhibition is a series of 25 beaded necklaces fashioned from a near decade-old personal collection of beads and handmade jewellery, which has been deconstructed and reassembled with new materials as a collaboration between the past and present.

A focus on colour and form was taken as opposed to organising each piece by material, which sees sparkling Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls strung up with glass, wood, shell and plastic beads. This defies one of the jewellery making rules established in my first job at a local bead store: no plastic components, ever. Yet plastic (especially if is vintage or can be sourced secondhand) has since become a favoured material of mine. Regardless of what any bead is made of, they have always reminded me of tiny candies.
